To create a striped volume, use the volume new command as described in “Creating a Volume”, and specify a striped aggregate as the volume's home aggregate. The following example creates a striped volume named stripedvol1 on a virtual server named vs1 and a striped aggregate named stripedaggr1. The volume is online and uses the export rule set named default_ruleset. The owner of the volume's root is a user named scratch whose primary group is data. The volume's security style is unix (for UNIX mode bits) and its junction is /data/high_performance. It is 20 TB in size, and space is reserved for the volume's data on the striped aggregate.
node::>volume new -vserver vs1 -volume stripedvol1 -aggregate stripedaggr1 -state online -ruleset default_ruleset -user scratch -group data -security-style unix -junction-path /data/high_performance -size 20t -space-guarantee volume
The command automatically creates member volumes across the specified striped aggregate's member aggregates.
